Kapa Haka
Kapa Haka Local, national and international opportunities are available for all students at Lytton to join up and perform on stage with our own unique award winning Kapa Haka team. Since the inception of the Biennial National Secondary Schools Festival in 2000, Lytton has been placed second twice, eventually winning the event in 2010. This is where the past and present collide with a passion and dedication to performances that not only move and inspire those who view them, but also those who compete. Here students learn skills and develop knowledge in the area of Māori Performing Arts.
Lytton High School represented the Tairāwhiti region, as the current champions, at the 2016 National Secondary Schools Kapa Haka competition in Hastings and were again selected to represent this region at the 2021 biennial National Secondary Schools Competition in Tamaki Makaurau.
